If there’s a must-visit pub list, then it must include Dick Mack’s Pub in Dingle County Kerry. Perched along the stunning Wild Atlantic Way, this iconic establishment is more than just a watering hole; it’s a living legend, steeped in history, craic, and a whole lot of whiskey. Let’s get real: Dick Mack’s isn’t just a pub it’s an experience and some say it’s the Best Pub in Dingle.

Inside Dick Mack’s Pub DIngle Front Bar

Walking into Dick Mack’s Pub feels like you’ve stepped into a different era. Leather shoes and cobbler’s tools hang from the ceiling, a nod to the building’s origins as a leather shop and pub yes, you can get a belt made or have a notch added while downing a pint. The interiors of the front bar haven’t changed much over the years, and that’s exactly how the locals and visitors like it. Wooden benches, coveted snug corners, and an old-world charm that is impossible to replicate. But don’t let the vintage front bar fool you; Dick Mack’s stretches out the back to a more modern bar and huge outdoor space and is also home to a state-of-the-art on-site brewhouse!

I have spent many a day and night in the first snug (which is my favourite) putting the world to rights before signing some random tune terribly thinking I’m Christy Moore.

Dick Mack's Dingle Brewhouse

Oh, and did I mention the craft beer? Dick Mack’s have their very own brewhouse, which adds a fresh, modern twist to this historic pub. Imagine sitting in their beer garden, sipping on a pint of their own freshly brewed ale (from 10 meters away), with the sounds of live music filling the air- this is class craic in the summer but their IPA is always a great shout, and my go to pint here. Drinks in Dick Mack’s Pub hit differently, but be warned its a black hole for time and before you know it last orders will be called.

Location, Location, Location

Nestled in the heart of Dingle, this pub has the added advantage of being close to some of the most breathtaking coastal scenery in Ireland. A day exploring the Dingle Peninsula home to the iconic Slea Head Drive and Blasket Islands deserves a proper finish, and Dick Mack’s Pub is just the spot for that.

Pro tip: If you fancy dinner at the world class (could be the best fish restaurant in Ireland) The Fish Box, which is next door to the pub expect to wait. However, what they do is take your name and number, give you a rough time and then sure, go into Dick Mack's for a few drinks until they call and isn't that the perfect start to a night?!

The Craic Is Always Mighty in Dick Mack’s Pub

I have spent time here when its jam packed in the hight of summer and also in the heart of winter with its locals only vibe and every time there is something unique this space offers. This isn’t just a place for a drink; it’s a hub of community life. On any given evening, you might find yourself in a heated debate about the best swimming spots, listening to spontaneous live German sessions, or sharing a laugh with strangers who feel like lifelong friends after a pint or two. Whether it’s a quiet weekday afternoon or a packed Friday night, the craic at Dick Mack’s Pub is, as the locals would say, “mighty.”

Dick Mack’s Pub is a quintessential (non-curated) Irish experience. From its heritage-packed walls to its modern brews and whiskey expertise, it perfectly marries old and new. If you’re in Dingle, missing a trip here would be like going to Paris and skipping the Eiffel Tower and it’s definitely more craic. Only by doing that will you know for sure if this is the Best Pub in Dingle!

So there you have it: one of the best pubs in Ireland…na the world!
