LUNA Killarney is one of those places that feels thought-through in the best way. A punchy little corner spot just off Killarney’s main drag, it has become one of my go-to stops for coffee (could it be the Best Coffee in Killarney) and a sandwich before I nip onto the Ring of Kerry. Or wine and not-so-calm, depending on the time of day.
Best Coffee in Killarney by Day, Wine by Sunset
At LUNA Killarney, you can start your day with a flat white and finish it with a glass of Gamay, preferably under their slick outdoor terrace, rain or shine. With Killarney National Park just over the road and the station around the corner, it’s as well-placed as it is well-poured.
Inside, a pastel-pink espresso machine (a Rocket, if you’re wondering- I had to Google it too) hums beside shelves of natural wine. The whole place feels more Melbourne than Munster but with a heavy nod to local produce and personality.

What to Drink & Eat at LUNA Killarney
LUNA Killarney sources ingredients locally and adjusts the menu weekly to reflect what’s good. There’s a real respect for the Kerry food scene here, quietly built into every sandwich and pour. You feel it. And taste it.

Flat White
Balanced, creamy, and made with beans that taste roasted with intent. The kind of coffee that quietly resets or kick starts your day and most locals will call this the Best Coffee in Killarney. LUNA also is one of the many coffee shops in Killarney that subscribe to the Killarney Coffee Cup Project, so don’t forget your reusable coffee cup.
Sandwiches
I’ve had a few here. The one’s I remember are smoked cheddar and tomato toastie that hit that golden ratio of crunch to goo and one with pesto. Sourdough, toasted to perfection. Addictive. You know you’re in for something a little different when your sandwich comes wrapped in brown paper, sealed with a hot pink “LUNA” sticker. Minimal effort, maximum cool.

Natural Wine Wall
Yes, there’s a literal wine wall. And yes, you can drink by the glass or take a bottle home. I tried the Beaujolais Nouveau—light, juicy, just funky enough. The Valentia Island Vermouth + Tonic was also a local standout. Drink local after all.

Seasonal Salads
Fresh, thoughtful, and full of colour. One week it’s roast beetroot with whipped feta, the next it’s quinoa with citrus dressing. Always worth checking the board.

Serious Style at LUNA Killarney

There’s something incredibly grounding about LUNA Killarney’s setup. The terrazzo tables. The pale pink signage against the dark blue walls. The open window seating that looks out onto colourful chairs and the slightly chaotic footpath beyond.
It’s calm in here, even when it’s busy. Great for a solo hour with a book, a coffee date, or even remote working if you’re sneaky with a laptop. In the sun the outdoor area is busy busy but sure look, when the sun is out in Ireland you shouldn’t have a single care in the world!
One wall is lined floor-to-ceiling with a rotating stock of natural, organic, and biodynamic wines. Each bottle comes with a little handwritten tag and a one-liner description scrawled on the chalkboard behind.
It feels curated.

Final Sip
LUNA Coffee + Wine in Killarney is what happens when someone opens a coffee shop with real taste—and I mean that in both senses. It’s unfussy, design-driven, and full of quiet confidence. Whether you’re craving caffeine, a crisp glass of Pinot, or just somewhere to escape the crowds, this place delivers.
I’ve been here on rainy Tuesdays and sunny Saturdays, and every time I leave feeling like I’ve been somewhere that gets it. That rare mix of style, soul, and a really decent sandwich.
