You might notice the Mongolian nomadic tent word on the label, and if you’re wondering what that’s about, don’t overthink it, it’s a Limerick thing, tied to the Irish phrase “yurt,” which loosely means “good.” This is also a brand that has a great voice as they really are pushing to change the landscape of whiskey drinking. They are very clever in how they promote and have a lot of much bigger brands sitting up and taking notice (probably gonna steal their ideas and post them as their own next season…)
The whiskey itself is a blended Irish whiskey, distilled at The Great Northern Distillery big shoutout for their transparency. This release features a triple-distilled blend aged in Bourbon barrels, then finished in Oloroso Sherry and Rye casks. It holds its place, but you may find yourself looking for more depth in your next pour. That being said this is a great brand that is really challenging Irish Whiskey norms – they are one to watch for just doing things their way!
