When two of Northern Ireland’s best-loved names come together — Causeway Coffee and Indie Füde — you know you’re in for something special. Their medium to dark House Blend collab caught my eye while on a wee day trip in Comber so I thought I might as well pick up a bag along with some chili crunch.
I brewed it up on a morning when the sun was as bright as can be – it also showed up how dirty my windows are. Anyway, I stuck it in my chemex, sipped it slowly and here is what I thought.
The design caught my eye. It was fun, bright and bold but with enough clear information on it that I could quickly tell it would do the job for me. They offer these bags as ground or beans so just make sure you pick up the one best for you.

Behind the Indie Füde Beans?
This is my first bag from Causeway Coffee so I was looking forward to trying a new Irish roaster.
They’re all about single-origin, small-batch roasting, working closely with trusted farms to ensure top-tier green beans find their way into your cup. They roast with precision (and a fair bit of obsession) up in Ballymoney, County Antrim.
No gimmicks. No shortcuts. Just great coffee.
On the other side, you have Indie Füde, the independent food champions from Comber and Belfast. They know quality when they taste it, and their idea was simple: partner with Causeway to create a house blend that holds up to their exceptional standard for all things Irish artisan.

This coffee got poured into my Lost & Found glass mug which I love. It also let the sunshine through like the wee amber mosquito on the top of the lads cane in Jurassic Park.
First Impressions
From the moment you rip open the packet (with its bold hexagon design and teal Indie Füde branding), you’re hit with a warm, inviting aroma that hints at what’s to come: deep chocolate, a flicker of toasted nuts, and a smoothness you could swim in.
Pour-over? Of course. I usually brew lighter roasts so slighter cooler water but today I brewed slightly hotter (around 94°C) to let that chocolate body fully bloom, as per a Google search guide.
This blend holds its own no matter how you brew it — with that medium dark roast keeping everything lively and rich without going overboard.

Tasting Notes of Indie Füde Coffee
This House Blend leans classic, in a way that it’s difficult to mess up.
Expect a lush chocolate note front and center, with the washed process helping the clarity shine through.
There’s a buttery caramel sweetness that floats across your tongue, followed by a clean, velvety finish that just keeps on giving.
It’s the kind of cup that conforms but also impresses. Exactly what you want in a house blend.
- Body: Smooth and creamy
- Acidity: Mild and juicy
- Sweetness: Balanced caramel pop
- Finish: Long, warming, and polished
I must say it was a lovely morning and I was being warmed in the suns glow, which honestly may have made any cup of coffee taste great.
