If you’re spending a morning or afternoon in Charleston, The Daily by Butcher & Bee should absolutely be on your radar. Located on King Street’s upper end, this café-meets-market is a vibrant, design-forward gem that nails everything from coffee to small plates. The Daily is one of the best brunch spots in Charleston, full stop.

My wife and I walked in the January sunshine and dropped in for a late morning bite, and it quickly became one of our favorite laid-back food stops in the city. It’s bright, fun, and buzzy but still chill enough to enjoy a slow coffee (if you don’t mind sharing a table top).

On that, the place gets and looks very busy but we found it all moves pretty quickly. Also you order at the till before sitting down just FYI.

What to Eat at The Daily Charleston

We kicked things off with the Za’atar Egg Bowl: sticky rice topped with labneh, chile crisp, crispy onions, and a fried egg, all seasoned with za’atar and a little spicy mayo for kick. It was deeply satisfying—comfort food with a punch. We also had a perfectly ripe half avocado seasoned with olive oil, sesame, and flaky salt, proving that simplicity wins when ingredients shine.

The Daily’s menu is packed with brunch favorites like shakshuka, smoked salmon bagels, and the famous Bodega sandwich but what really sets it apart is the quality of sourcing and Middle Eastern flair that comes from its Butcher & Bee roots.

Coffee Game at The Daily: Strong

If you’re looking for the best coffee in Charleston, The Daily delivers. We had two silky flat whites that were just the right balance of bold and smooth. The coffee here is taken seriously—and you can tell from the first sip.

Design, Vibe & Art

Inside, The Daily feels like a curated lifestyle magazine brought to life. Think clean lines, wood accents, and tropical plants. There’s even a colorful Bob Marley sequin portrait (that I am pretty sure is made out of straws) on the wall that somehow fits the relaxed but stylish energy. The space is open and inviting, perfect for catching up with a friend, grabbing a solo pastry, or posting up with a laptop.

Grab-and-Go + Market Goods

While we dined in, you can also swing by for grab-and-go items—think fresh juices, pastries, and some of the best takeaway sandwiches in Charleston. Plus, there’s a curated retail section where you can pick up pantry staples, cookbooks, or a fun snack.

Final Thoughts

The Daily Charleston lives up to its hype. It’s equal parts café, brunch spot, and local market, and every detail is thoughtful without trying too hard. Whether you’re a visitor or a Charleston local, it’s the kind of place you’ll want to come back to.
