Tiny café, big heart. The Little Cactus has many a story to tell.
Tucked into a small but mighty unit on Lower Kimmage Road, Stoneybatter. The Little Cactus is a hybrid space where coffee meets toasties meets vintage flair meets cacti (a lot of cacti). It’s charming in a way that feels completely unforced like your best friend’s place if they were cooler, calmer, and ran a savage sandwich counter. I feel if it were a person they would actually read books and not just buy them to look like they read them…you know?
I went here after a run one day and it was so so bloody warm, so I sat in their greenhouse outdoor area which was also roasting but surrounded by this energy, I ended up staying for brunch and lunch! So for some this might just be the Best Coffee in Dublin.

What’s the Story?
Started by two locals with a love of great coffee and good vibes, The Little Cactus is a neighbourhood café that somehow packs brunch, plants, vintage fashion, and art into one and a bit sun-drenched rooms in Stoneybatter.
It’s a place where you come for a flat white and stay for the toasties, and then somehow leave with a cactus in your tote bag and a vintage shirt you didn’t know you needed.
They’ve built a spot that feels loved, lived-in, and local, in a very trendy part of Dublin, but still with no fuss, no filter, just good energy and even better grub.
Oh but this place still is very much a speciality coffee shop regardless of everything else, the rest are all just wonderful layers on top of great coffee.

What Did I Order?
- Toastie A grilled toastie stuffed with greens, gooey cheese, and some spicy, zippy bits I didn’t catch the name of but trust me, it was great. Served with crisps, because they get it. Crunchy on the outside, chaos inside. No notes.
- Flat White – Bright and balanced, with solid crema and no bitterness. The kind of coffee that makes you want to write a novel or start a band.
- Pain au Chocolat – A golden, flaky beast that’s somehow both sweet and salty. If you see it in the pastry case, get it. No questions.
What’s the Vibe?
It’s got that Hackney loft vibe: exposed brick, a rack of secondhand clothes in the back, tiny potted cacti on every table. There’s a gentle buzz of locals who look like they actually live here, plus a few coffee pilgrims like me, camera-ready and toastie-hunting.
The light hits just right for that morning golden hour glow, and the playlist is low-key bop after bop. There’s art on the walls, ceramics on the shelves, and a vintage cash register that I’m convinced holds all of Dublin’s best secrets.
Although I sat out the back I think I had my first coffee in the front before I realized there was a whole other space back there. These two spaces have totally different vibes so it might be worth seeing which suits you best when you get in.
Is The Little Cactus Café Worth It?

If you like toasties and coffee done right, and cafés that feel like a hug, then yes. It’s the kind of spot you may stumble upon. It’s the kind of spot you remember to tell your mates about, but only the ones you really like.
Coffee and cactus combo – A weirdly perfect match.
Yes, they also sell the cacti…. eh yeah… Best Coffee in Dublin it might just be.
